Donor Profile: Don Thurston

Volunteer Don Thurston can definitely be defined as an accomplished Calgarian.

As a professional engineer and director of several private companies, including a private wealth management company, Don's extensive skills have led to success in "Corporate Calgary." But equally important is Don'€™s generosity in sharing his expertise as a volunteer, which he believes give him just as many rewards.

Currently, Don is a Board member at the Calgary Foundation and Chairs the Daryl K. Seaman Canadian Hockey Fund Committee at CF. Don has also shared his wealth of knowledge with charitable organizations Momentum, Engineers Without Borders and Honens.

"To all his volunteer involvements, Don brings decades of experience. The resulting wisdom, combined with the humility of learning, comes from being inspired by the community sector,"€ said Walter Hossli, Executive Director, Momentum.

"€œI think volunteering is just a part of living, it'€™s not something extraordinary. We're all in this together and everyone plays in the game. You get the picture," says Don.
